Violence & Utopia at a Dinner Party
This was a collaboration with fellow artists Courtney McCloskey and Josh Pawanda. We made tableware and glasses for twenty-two guests which were invited to join us at the Stella Elkins Gallery at Tyler School of Art. The invites had numbers assigned to them, and place settings were not in numerical order. The varying sizes and elaborate decoration of the tableware were intended to illicit absurd interactions and to make it harder for guests to eat. (Because the table numbers were set at random, all the artists unintentionally were seated at the tiniest place settings - ooops). Guests were allowed to keep their table settings, and the brunch remnants were left as evidence that something took place at that table.
